Philips invented wifi-connected lamps. All the connected lamps around the world communicate via a global online platform for changes, settings, updates and remotes. The entire back-end system is running on Google App Engine and is providing for the large scale supporting platform.

The Philips HUE case is used to show how App Engine, BigTable and TaskQueue's are used to provide the fault tolerant and effective infrastructure as it proved to be. This talk will focus on the more advanced tech details of App Engine, architecture considerations and explain how the essential parts of App Engine operate and can be used.
